On February 18, 2026, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi announced that more than $12 million in federal funding has been allocated to support a range of community projects across San Francisco. The funds were secured through Fiscal Year 2026 Community Project Funding and are included in the latest government funding package signed into law.
The funding aims to address public safety, transportation, housing, workforce development, and environmental needs throughout the city. According to Pelosi, “The new federal funding designated for community-driven projects across San Francisco is great news for our city. I was proud to secure these investments which underscore the Democrats’ commitment to fighting for working families, even in a Republican Majority. From strengthening public safety and homelessness services to expanding workforce training, supporting veterans, advancing scientific research, and improving transit accessibility, this funding will deliver real results for San Franciscans.”
The list of funded projects includes allocations such as $1.031 million for the University of California, San Francisco’s High-Performance Computing Core Expansion; $2 million for capital improvements at Jerrold Commons by the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing; $1.2 million for lighting upgrades at transit stops by the Municipal Transportation Agency; and $1.031 million for new patrol vehicles for the Police Department.
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie said, “The funding Speaker Emerita Pelosi has secured for San Francisco in Washington will help us build more housing, keep our neighborhoods safe, and support our community programs. Thank you to the Speaker Emerita for her tireless work to support our city and deliver for San Franciscans.” Anne Taupier of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development said these allocations bring Treasure Island closer to becoming a sustainable neighborhood while expanding job training opportunities.
Other local leaders also commented on specific project impacts. Shireen McSpadden from the Department of Homelessness said that “this welcome investment will not only enhance our infrastructure but will also provide a much-needed foundation for dignity and health” at Jerrold Commons. Edward Wright from BART said that “LED lighting improves visibility on our stations and platforms… I’m grateful to Speaker Emerita Pelosi for her continued support.” Toni Eby from SafeHouse described the housing renovation funds as creating “a critical bridge to safety, stability, and healing” for survivors.
According to official records, Nancy Pelosi is currently serving in Congress representing California’s 11th district since replacing Sala Burton in 1987. She was born in Baltimore in 1940 and resides in San Francisco. Pelosi graduated from Trinity Washington University with a BA in 1962.
